Rev. Paul Franklin Knight, 81, of Ligonier, died Friday, August 23, 2013, in UPMC – Shadyside Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1932, in Minerva, Ohio, a son of Aryl Knight and Amanda Riebe Knight.
Rev. Knight preached for 40 years and also taught school for 10 years while preaching. For 14 years, he was the minister of First Church of the Nazarene in Washington, retiring in 1997 and preached another 15 or more years after retiring.
He played the saxophone and was an artist.
On August 7, 1954, he married Audrey Rigby, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Paula (John) Hyland of Yardley and Shila (Mark) Matson of New Florence; two brothers, Ronald Gilbert and Raymond Lindeman of Louisville, Ohio; three sisters, Donna Willet of Williamsport, Maryland, Rita Klingaman of Ohio, and Carol Lindeman of Louisville, Ohio; grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Neumaier, Rev. Jonathan (Sharla) Rider, David, Jenae, Mary, Katelyn, Kassandra, Matthew, Sarah and Andrew (fiancée Casey) Matson, Emily and Katelyn Hyland; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Anna, Ethan, Grace, and Eva Rose Neumaier, Bethany, Brianna and Emily Rider.
Deceased are a son, Wesley David Knight; and a sister, Marilyn Schwitzbel.
Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 26th, in New Life Church of the Nazarene, Boswell, with Rev. Nathan Zipfel, Rev. Robert Cummings and Rev. Jonathan Rider co-officiating. Those attending the funeral should meet at the church. Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 27th, in Red Oak Cemetery, Spartansburg, Pennsylvania. Those attending the burial should meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 878 Main Street, Boswell, PA 15531 or Endowment Scholarship Fund in honor of Paul and Audrey Knight at Nazarene Theological Seminary, 1700 E.
