David Nathan Bigley,
of Washington, PA, passed into Jesus’ arms on May 16, 2013. Dave was born in Connellsville on May 12, 1956, a son of Bernard F. Bigley and Emily R. (Leapline) Bigley.
Dave was a graduate of Connellsville High School in 1974. He then graduated from West Virginia University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and coal-processing engineering. He retired from Consol Energy in December, 2012, after 34 years of service. Most recently, he was manager of Information Technology at the River Operations Division in Monessen.
Dave loved the Lord, his family and friends, and his Church, the Washington Alliance Church. Over the past twenty years of his membership, Dave served his church as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Board of Ministries member, choir member, and member of the Men’s Quartet. Recently, Dave participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic where he built housing for Haitian refugees. He had planned to spend his retirement on many more. Dave was a Bible scholar, and he taught without intention through actions demonstrating his love for the Lord. He enjoyed participating in his Bible study group as a team leader.
Dave loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed boating and cycling, having ridden both the Scarnati/Cawley 100 and MS 175 to raise money for Children’s Hospital and multiple sclerosis research. Dave was eagerly awaiting the birth of his grandson in May.
Dave is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Roseann (Ranker) Bigley; his son, Dr. Joel David Bigley and his wife, Andrea, of Pittsburgh; and his daughter, Dr. Lauren Renee DiGiovine and her husband, Dr. Daniel DiGiovine, of Morgantown. He is also survived by sisters Regina Nazimek and husband Jack, Lois Jean Bigley, and brother John Bigley and wife Beulah. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Francis Bigley.
