George Pete Alexas, 81, of Claysville, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at home.
He was born May 26, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late Pete Alexas and Bessie Karanzalis Alexas.
Mr. Alexas was the owner and operator of Shorty’s Lunch since he was eleven years old.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and received Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the United Nations Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Alexas was a member of Sunset Lodge #623, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Washington Royal Arch Chapter #150, Northern Masonic A.A.S.R.,Pittsburgh Supreme Council, Syria Shrine and Claysville Hunt-Kennedy American Legion Post 639.
He was a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church.
On July 30, 1967, he married Alma Jean Wildman, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Alexas of West Alexander, John (Trudy) Alexas of Claysville, Steven (Leslie) Alexas, of Washington; a brother, Pete Alexas, of Washington; a sister Georgia Kohl of Washington; six grandchildren, Andrew, Noel, Ryan, Matt, Kaity, Stavros.
Friends will be received Sunday, April 21st from2 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 22nd with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy, Post 639. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave, Washington, PA 15301
