Mildred Sumney Shaw, 86, of Washington, died Saturday, September 8, 2012, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born March 30, 1926, in Nottingham Township, a daughter of Charles and Jeannette McNary Sumney.
Mrs. Sumney was a graduate of Trinity High School.
She was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church where she was employed as the church secretary for 30 years. In addition, she was also a deacon and member of the session.
Mrs. Shaw was a member of the Buffalo Grange as well as a former member, past president and secretary of Mt. Pleasant Society of Farm Women.
On June 24, 1948, she married Gaylord G. Shaw, who died February 7, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Ralph G. Shaw and Paul D. Shaw (Betty), both of Washington; a daughter, Linda P. Shaw of Washington; two grandchildren, Cory R. Shaw (Amy) and Jason M. Shaw (Valerie); two great-grandsons, Cameron and Evan Shaw; a great-granddaughter, Ellie Shaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Clair and Oliver Sumney; and two sisters, Margaret Myers and Lois Koehler.
Friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 12th, in Third United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Thomas Bellhy officiating. (Those attending the service are asked to meet at the church.) Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
