Thelma J. Chandler, 79, of Washington, died Friday, August 24, 2012, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born May 15, 1933, in Washington, a daughter of James and Elizabeth Patterson Miller.
Mrs. Chandler was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Lawrence Chandler of Washington, Ronald Chandler of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Deon (Nicole) Chandler of La Grande, Oregon; four daughters, Beverly (Ayua) Aku, Deborah Chandler (Michael) Cain, Tracy (Tony) Smith and Carol (Ramsey) Price, all of Washington; four brothers, John William, George, Joseph and David Miller; four sisters, Ethel Patterson, Katherine Bryan, Barbara Bush and Carol Jackson; and host of grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are son, Kenneth Chandler; four sisters, Edna, Mary, Alene and Eleanor Ann; and three brothers, James, Thomas and Wilbert.
Friends will be received from 11 to Noon, Saturday, September 1st, in Friendship Baptist Church, 17 West Walnut Street, Washington. Funeral services will begin at Noon, with Rev. Richard White of Friendship Baptist Church officiating and Rev. Steven Sullivan as eulogist. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
