View Video TributeSherman Ackerman, IV, 52, of Eighty-Four, died on Friday, July 29, 2011, at his residence, after a brief illness.He was born on December 14, 1958, in Washington, a son of Sherman, III, and Carla Jean Weaver Ackerman, of Eighty-Four.Mr. Ackerman was a member of the South Hills Bible Chapel, in McMurray, PA.A graduate of Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama, he also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama.His first job out of college was in the oilfields of Oklahoma, where he worked as a crew chief for Gearhart Industries. He then went on to work at a technology firm called Intergraph Corp, in Huntsville, AL. Mr. Ackerman subsequently worked as an independent contractor, and was a certified instructor, in both Solid Edge and Solid Works, for CAD/CAM technology.Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a son, Daniel Sherman Ackerman and a daughter, Katherine Grace Ackerman, both of Grove City; 3 sisters, Cynthia Lynn Ackerman Petro and Nancy Louise (Wheeler) Flemming, both of Birmingham, AL and Sheryl Ann (Dan) Ingram, of Wildwood, MO; and 7 nieces and nephews, Matthew, Kelly, Carla, Wheeler, Jenny, Jessica and Emily.Friends will be received on Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301, and on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m., the times of services, with Pastor Bob Mason officiating.Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.Family suggests memorial contributions to the South Hills Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Dr., McMurray, PA 15317.
