Janet Yvonne Metz

Janet Yvonne Metz, 70, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in Donnell House, following a 1½-month illness. She was born March 30, 1940, in Washington, a daughter of Glenn and Ellen Rundquist Rice. Mrs. Metz was a graduate of Claysville High School. She worked the deli counter at the former Jefferson Avenue Foodland for 17 years and was a former clothing inspector at Bobbie Brooks. Mrs. Metz was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo. On September 6, 1958, she married William E. Metz, Sr., who died April 22, 1998. Surviving are a son, John Metz of Washington; three daughters, Sue Ellen Metz and Kimberly Ann (Brian) Fisher, both of Washington, and Karen (Bryan) Baumgartner of Waynesburg; a sister, Karen Shaffer of Houston; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Deceased is a son, William E. Metz, Jr. There will be no public visitation. A public funeral service will be held at Noon, Friday, March 11th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Wind Ridge. As requested by the family, flowers will not be accepted at the funeral home.
