Dorothy Kay (Dottie) Metheny

Dorothy Kay “Dottie” Metheny, 70, of Washington, died on Friday, February 11, 2011, in Shadyside Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 22, 1940, in Washington, a daughter of Nicholas and Bertha Bednarski Ermacoff. Mrs. Metheny was a graduate of Washington High School and Thiel College. She then worked as a medical technologist at the Washington Hospital for more than 35 years. Mrs. Metheny attended several local churches. She volunteered at the Women’s Shelter, was a seamstress and cake decorator, and enjoyed bowling with the senior league. On August 1, 1964, she married Wayne Jerome Metheny, who died on August 20, 2006. Surviving are 2 daughters, Dana Metheny, of Morgantown, WV and Dawn Metheny, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and a grandson, Gabe Schultz. A memorial service will be held at a day and time to be announced. Arrangements are by the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
