Melvin “Earl” Miller, 89, of Washington, died on Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born on May 14, 1921, in Claysville, a son of William and Margaret Davidson Miller.
Mr. Miller had worked for Washington Engineering and Construction Company for 20 years and then as Superintendant of maintenance at Trinity Area School District, for 25 years.
He was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Miller belonged to the Washington Elks Club #776. He enjoyed golfing and traveling to Myrtle Beach with his family.
On March 10, 1943, he married Mary Menegus, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Scott (Karen) Miller, of South Strabane, a daughter, Edla Bradley, of South Strabane, a sister, Jean Weaver, of Washington, 2 grandchildren, Amy (Billy) Barr and Lisa (Michael) King, 7 great grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, Shelby and Hannah Barr and Santana, Julian and Angelina King, and a great-great grandchild, Avery Barr.
Deceased is a brother, William Kenneth Miller.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 11:00, with the Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating.
