Charles Lee Crowe, 57, of Washington, died on Saturday, December 25, 2010, in the Donnell House.
He was born on June 27, 1953, in Cleveland, OH, a son of Charles and Dorothy Smith Crowe, of Waynesburg.
Mr. Crowe worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War, with Fighter Squadron Forty-One. For his service, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorable discharged on November 16, 1979.
Mr. Crowe was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, where he was a deacon and trustee.
He enjoyed, and was involved in, youth baseball, girl’s softball and the Boy Scouts of America, where he had served as an assistant scout leader. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, and was an avid Steelers fan.
He was very excited about the upcoming birth of his first grandchild.
On February 21, 1976, he married Diana Popper, who survives.
Also surviving, in addition to his parents, is a son, Christopher R. (Lisa) Crowe, of California, a daughter, Amber Crowe, of Waynesburg, 3 brothers, Donald Wilson, of North Carolina, George Crowe, of Washington, and Curt Crowe, of Waynesburg, 2 sisters, Sue Ealy, of Holbrooke, PA and Sarah Crowe, of Waynesburg, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Mattsfield, of Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA 15301. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Fairhill Manor Christian Church, where services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Patricia Donahue officiating.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
